EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Every player in U11 - U18 requires the following marked items to play basketball:

  • Shorts (a navy NEBA team short is included in your NEBA registration - Nike, Adidas, school team shorts are not appropriate attire)
  • Inside runners appropriate for basketball, with non-marking soles
  • If a player wants to wear a t shirt under their jersey it should be white to match the NEBA uniform
  • Marked water bottle available for their personal use
  • A bag to store players equipment for games and practices is recommended

Team jerseys and the shorts will be provided to the coaches when they pick up their equipment.  Additional shorts may be purchased from the NEBA executive thru the playing season.

GAMES AND PRACTICES

The Basketball Season - U11 thru U18

Practices start the last week of September.  Games usually will start the first week of October and runs until the first weekend prior to spring break.  Practices are held one night during the week Monday thru Friday between 6pm and 10pm (gym assignments are not available until late September). Games are played in Edmonton, and surrounding area.  Breaks in the schedule will occur when school gymnasiums are closed for long weekends and school events.  Parents are responsible to get their child to and from practices and games.

Community division games are generally played on Saturdays (occasionally Friday evenings or Sunday morning).  Games are scheduled at the Saville Center, Legacy Athletics, the EYBA Center, and school gyms. All players are eligible to play in the community program.

U13 and U15 girls and boys can tryout for the competitive tier 1 or 2 division.  The competitive stream will only happen if there are enough players registered.  Tier 1/2 Girls games are held on Wednesdays, and Boys games are held on Tuesdays.

The Basketball Season - U9

U9 basketball starts the last week of September and runs thru to March depending on the availability of school gyms that we use for the program. Practices are held one night a week, based on gym allocations and coaches availability (there are no regular games at this level). The season wraps up with a U9 tournament.

Other gymnasiums and dates may be available depending on what is made available to our organization for this upcoming season.

If a player is unable to attend a game or practice, please remember to let your coach know as soon as possible.

PARENTAL VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT - Bingos, Casinos, other opportunities

For each family registered in the U9-U18 program, parents are required to fulfill a volunteer commitment (1 commitment per family).  A list of available commitments is posted on the website.  If you do not complete your volunteer commitment, a $300.00 charge will be added to your account.  If you cannot make the activity you have chosen, it is your responsibility to find your replacement. Bingos are all held at Kensington Bingo Hall starting at 4:45pm. Volunteers for casinos and bingos must be 18 years of age.

Please see details on the Parental Volunteer Commitment HERE.

Children will not be placed on a team or provided a practice date until all required documents are provided, and registration fees are paid in full.

KidSport Policy

Complete a KidSport application and bring to the registration/AGM.  The NEBA Executive Director will forward it directly to KidSport for payment.  KidSport will provide up to $250.00 per season for a child to participate in a sporting program.  As a parent you will still be required to work your volunteer effort for NEBA.  (If KidSport is unable to provide funding, please speak with the Executive Director about other funding sources).

Link to KidSport Application form is HERE.

Refund Policy

There will be an automatic fee of $30.00 applied against the registration fee paid.  Refunds will only be processed until the first scheduled regular season game of the players assigned team, after which no refunds will be made.  Requests for refunds must be made in writing to the executive director at info@northeastbasketball.com

Post dated Cheque Policy

NEBA will accept post dated cheques only if no other form of payment is available, and is approved by the Executive Director, the President or Treasurer.  Cheques are not always deposited on the post dated date.  It is the parent's responsibility to ensure that the funds are in the account from the date the cheque is written for, until it is deposited by the treasurer. These will be accepted for payment but must be paid in full by October 31.

NSF Cheque Policy

There will be a $25.00 NSF cheque fee for all cheques returned NSF.

Late Player Registration Fee

A late player registration fee of $30.00 per player may be charged after the last registration date. Late registration will only occur if there is sufficient room in the program.
