2020-21 Season: Update - Sept 25

September 25, 2020 Update

EYBA has provided us with a plan to go forward with a modified cohort season as follows:

  • The season will run from Friday Oct 16, 2020 - Saturday Dec 12, 2020
  • Each cohort will meet 4 times over the season for mini games with modified gameplay rules.
  • Each team can have a maximum of 10 players and 2 coaches in order to fit into the cohort.  It is recommended that we build balanced teams as EYBA cannot guarantee comparable play.  There will be no skill divisions this season.
  • Games will be played at the Saville Community Sports Center and The King’s University on Friday and Saturdays.  We still do not have access to school gymnasiums.  There is no available space for practices at this time.
  • AHS recommends that players are in limited sports cohorts to allow for safe play.
  • NEBA has currently been allotted teams based on our pre-registration numbers.

o    U11 Girls - 1 team                                 U11 Boys - 2 teams

o    U13 Girls - 1 team                                 U13 Boys - 2 teams

o    U15 Girls - 1 team                                 U15 Boys - 3 teams

o    U18 Girls -1 team                                  U18 Boys - 1 team

Registration is now closed.

September 8, 2020 Update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of access to school gymnasiums, Edmonton Youth Basketball Association (EYBA) has delayed the start of game play until mid October.  We expect that player and team numbers will be greatly reduced and capped due to restricted court time.  The season will be modified and follow the AHS cohort structure guidelines.    Watch the website for more information.

For September, we are able to offer a Pre-season Skills Development Camp - see the registration page for more details!  Players participating in the Pre-season Skills Development Camp will be given priority for season play.

August 7, 2020 Update

NEBA has been notified that community access to school gymnasiums continues to remain on hold for September and October, which means that we will not be able to start our regular season as in previous years.  Please check the website in late October when we have more information on the possibility of community basketball for this season.

Stay safe!

COVID-19 has created much uncertainty in how it will look this coming season. Our plans to return to play are based on provincial guidelines and guidelines from our governing body.  More information can be found at the EYBA and the Alberta guidance documents on Return to Play  Please monitor the NEBA website for more information on our program, as it is available.
